Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that new users get these geometric shapes as their icon? I’ve been admiring them for a while. There’s a regular hexahedron (that’s a cube), a regular octahedron, a cone, and a regular tetrahedron (unless the base of that shape is actually a square in which case it would be a square pyramid). Isn’t it all so cool? If that last shape really is a tetrahedron, than all three of the polyhedra new users can have are platonic solids! My question is, why have three polyhedra/platonic solids, and then randomly throw a cone into the mix? Why not a dodecahedron or an icosahedron? Actually, why not just have five different icons a new user can have and make use of all the platonic solids?

Anyway, I think someone in the Tumblr staff may be a little bit of a math nerd…which is awesome.
